Plantweb is a repository of flower pictures. Most of the pictures are of plants from the Fynbos biome of Southern Africa, but there are a few from other parts of the South Africa.
The earliest pictures are from around 2001/2002. These were captured by scanning the flowers on a HP flat-bed scanner. This technique worked well for small, flat flowers, but did not cope well with any flower that required more than 5mm depth of field. Later pictures were captured with a series of Nikon cameras. This site is a reworked version of the original Plantweb, parts of which are still available at this link.
The Plants menu option is the home of all plant pictures. Unless otherwise stated, the copyright remains with Plantweb. (2000-2019)
A number of botanical illustrations were found at Kirstenbosch. These were scanned before being put into the archives, and those scans are available here.
