FIELD NOTES / SOUTH AFRICA

What to check before visiting a betting shop

Retail branches have their own premises, services and opening hours. An online account does not guarantee that a particular shop can perform the transaction you need.

Confirm the exact branch

Compare the address, operator name and town in the primary listing. A historical licence schedule establishes a licensed location at the source date; it does not prove that the counter is open today. Branch entries in this directory identify historical sources where applicable. Call the branch if a direct number is published, or use the operator's locator to confirm a move.

Ask about identification and payments

Ask the operator which documents are accepted and whether the branch can handle your specific account, deposit or withdrawal request. Keep your identification private and enter account credentials only through the operator's own approved process. Do not send identity documents to Plantweb.

Read the betting slip

Check the event, selection, stake, odds, market rules and settlement terms before confirming a bet. Ask how postponed events, dead heats or void selections are treated. Keep the original slip and receipt in a safe place. A photographed slip may not replace the operator's evidence requirements.

Choose a limit before arrival

A shop visit can be part of watching sport, but a result is uncertain. Plan a maximum stake and a leaving time. If betting becomes difficult to control, ask the operator about exclusion and follow the support links on our responsible-gambling page.
